The Fairphone 5 features a modular design that consumers can easily repair with components available to purchase and fit using a screwdriver. Even better, Fairphone will provide tutorials on YouTube to guide you through the repair process.
Made Fair
With a focus on the environment, the Fairphone 5 uses recycled materials or ones sourced fairly and sustainably. While also ensuring that workers have a living wage and have better conditions. Fairphones 5's manufacturer has an SA8000 certification, one of the highest standards for safe and decent working conditions.
Android 13
Fairphone 5 comes with Android 13 and offers an intuitive user experience with high customization and added security. This being a Fairphone product, you know it also has zero bloatware for a clean version of Android.
Cameras
Premium dual lenses rear cameras with 50-megapixel technology ensure you can capture incredible lifelike images, which you will want to share.
There is no need to compromise on your selfies, as the Fairphone 5 has a 50MP front-facing camera with EIS and HDR technologies, so all those quick snaps look great.
Performance
The reliable and fast performance of the Octa-core chipset works with the 6GB / 8GB of RAM, the performance you need for all modern apps, and there is plenty of space for them with the 128GB/256GB of internal storage. You can use up to 2TB SD cards if you need more space.
A 4,200mAh battery provides an entire day, up to 16 hours of continuous video playback or 10 hours of non-stop gaming. There is also the convenience of fast charging up to 50 per cent in minutes. Alternatively, carry a spare battery with you and swap it.
Well built throughout, little heavier than I expected but has a larger battery.Screen is sharp and clear, Overall much better than my Sony Experia 5 and cheaper.
Does my jobs very well
I love the Fairphone mission, and they managed to put it in a great looking, sleek, functional phone. It works amazingly well. Thank you Fairphone. And thank you Clove for getting this to me in the USA.
I've been happy with my Fairphone 5. It was shipped to Canada quickly and is working well here. It's great to have a phone designed for longevity and repair.
I've only been using my new phone for about a week, so this isn't a super-comprehensive review. But, I've generally been very happy so far. The phone is quick and didn't come with a bunch of bloat-ware. I'm using it in Canada (specifically Saskatchewan, using the Sasktel network, with Lum as my carrier) and have had no problems with service.
The automatic transfer over of my old applications to the new phone went fairly well, but I'll caution that notifications got turned off for all the apps by default, so that wasn't ideal.
The physical phone is larger than I'd prefer, it's a little hard to use it with a single hand. (Unfortunately that seems to be the trend with most phones though.)
The battery life has been great. I'm not a heavy phone user, but I easily got 2 days use on a single charge, might have been able to go for 3.
I miss having a physical home button on the face of the phone, as sometimes it takes a moment to find the power button on the side, but the virtual home button has consistently worked well.
The phone is definitely designed/intended to be used with one of the optional cases -- the cameras stick out a few mm on the back and I think it looks weird without the protective case on.
I was happy that Clove was able to ship to Canada , and I had no issues with the shipping. There was 129 CAD in taxes and duty, but that was in-line with my expectations. There wasn't any 'brokerage fees' that some couriers seem to charge.
Nice design, performant, eco and fixable! This kind of phone need to be available everywhere!!
Also work very well in Canada on Telus Network.
